Surface Exploration and Laboratory investigation at surge shaft, pressure shaft, power house and tail race tunnel of Nikachu Hydropower Project, Bhutan

PRCS geotechnical engineering team operating a rotary core drilling rig for soil testing and subsurface geotechnical investigation services.
Geotechnical Drilling & Soil Testing Services: PRCS engineering specialists conduct high-precision core drilling and subsurface geotechnical investigations under field conditions to collect critical soil and rock data for structural foundation design.

Name of the Client:

Project Description:

Core Drilling & Rotary Drilling, Index Rock properties, Natural Water Content, Porosity, Unit Weight, Specific Gravity/Absorption Test, Sonic Velocity Test, Petro graphic Analysis, Unconfirmed Compression Test (With and without strain measurement), Triaxial Compression Test, Direct Shear Test and indirect Tensile Strength Test.

Scope of work:

Drilling carried out by using required size bits in soft and weathered rocks and NX size bits in hard rock formation. Drill runs have not exceeded 3 m in length and the core removed from the drill holes as after as may be.

Rotary drilling is done in a most extensive and common technique employed for detailed exploration to know the condition of soil and rock. Water Tightness of the bedrock is determined by conducting water pressure/permeability tests. The Data included:

  • Project identifications, boring number, location, data of start of boring.
  • Coordinates of the location.
  • Elevation of the ground surface, angle from horizontal.
  • Depth to ground water and raising or lowering of level. Elevation which drilling fluid returns was partially or totally lost.
  • Length of each core run and length or percentage of the core recorded.
  • Rock Quality Designation.
