At PRCS, we provide comprehensive geotechnical investigation and surveying services that give project owners, designers, and financiers the reliable, field-verified data they need to make confident decisions.

Topographical and Land Surveying

Accurate terrain data is the foundation of every design decision that follows it. Our survey teams capture the precise three-dimensional picture of your site that engineers, planners, and architects need to design with confidence. Using industry-standard total stations and RTK GPS technology, we produce topographical survey outputs that integrate directly into design and planning workflows.

What does this include:

  • Topographical survey and terrain mapping
  • Land boundary and cadastral surveying
  • Route and corridor surveys for roads and infrastructure
  • GIS data capture and digital terrain model production
  • Survey control network establishment
  • AutoCAD and GIS-compatible data outputs

Our equipment:

  • Total Station: Sokkia 510/530 and Leica 1101
  • RTK GPS Sets: SW make, 2 sets
  • GPS Units: Gramin, 2 nos.

Geotechnical Investigations

In Bhutan’s complex Himalayan geology, what the surface reveals about the ground is rarely the full story. Our geotechnical investigation teams go deeper, literally, using core drilling and field testing to characterize the sub-surface conditions that foundation design, slope stability analysis, and earthworks planning depend on.

What does this include:

  • Borehole drilling and core sample retrieval
  • Standard Penetration Testing in boreholes
  • Sub-surface stratigraphy logging and classification
  • Groundwater level measurement and monitoring
  • Laboratory testing of soil and rock samples
  • Geotechnical investigation reports with design recommendations

Our equipment:

  • Core Drilling Rig: Rock Drill TRD-80(S) Tone, up to 150 m depth
  • Core Drilling Rig: Rock Drill HF 130, 30 to 130 m depth, diameter 75 to 260 mm
  • SPT Set: 1 set

Geotechnical and Subsurface Studies

Field data alone does not make a project safe. It is the informed interpretation of that data, translated into design parameters, stability assessments, and engineering recommendations, that protects the people and assets that infrastructure is built to serve. Our geotechnical advisory practice bridges the gap between raw investigation data and actionable engineering guidance.

What does this include:

  • Slope stability assessment and analysis
  • Foundation bearing capacity and settlement analysis
  • Shear strength testing and parameter derivation
  • Landslide hazard assessment
  • Geotechnical input to EIA and safeguard documentation
  • Geotechnical advisory support during design and construction

Survey Data Collection and Analysis

Data that cannot be interpreted and acted upon has no project value. Our survey and data analysis service transforms raw field measurements into structured, analysis-ready datasets that support design, planning, environmental assessment, and asset management decisions across project sectors.

What does this include:

  • Field data collection using GPS and total station instrumentation
  • GIS data processing and spatial analysis
  • Digital terrain and elevation model production
  • Hydrological data analysis for drainage and flood assessment
  • Environmental and land use mapping
  • Data reporting in client-specified formats

Why Project Owners Trust PRCS for Geotechnical Consulting in Bhutan?

In-house equipment, no sub-contracting delays.

Our survey and drilling equipment is owned and operated by our team, meaning we mobilize faster, maintain tighter quality control, and do not pass sub-contractor mark-ups on to our clients.

Experienced across Bhutan’s terrain.

From urban sites in Thimphu to remote mountain corridors, our field teams have worked across the full geographic and geological diversity of Bhutan, accumulating site-specific knowledge that generic regional consultants cannot replicate.

Over 17 geotechnical assignments completed.

Our geotechnical investigation portfolio spans building foundations, highway infrastructure, bridge sites, hydropower projects, and slope stability assessments, with notable work including the Bhutan Education City geotechnical investigation and sub-soil investigations for bridge projects on the Nganglam-Gyalposhing Highway.

Over 13 topographical survey assignments completed.

Our survey portfolio covers road and infrastructure corridors, urban development sites, and GIS mapping assignments across Bhutan, producing survey data that has directly informed design and planning decisions on nationally significant projects.

Compliant and credentialed.

CDB Registration No. 101, ADB CMS No. 007794, valid Business License, and current Tax Clearance Certificate. Our institutional credentials give project owners and financing institutions confidence that our investigation and survey outputs meet the professional standards that significant design and investment decisions require.
